JEFFERSON – The Town of Jefferson is introducing a new “Hometown Heroes” Banner Program. The red, white, and blue banners will honor military veterans or current service members from the Jefferson area.

Family and friends can honor their loved one’s military service by ordering a banner. Banners will include a picture of the service member, their name, rank, branch of military service, years or era of service, and the sponsor’s name. Banners will be displayed on poles throughout the Town of Jefferson from Memorial Day weekend through Veteran’s Day in November. The Town of Jefferson will maintain custody of the banners and ensure they are hung each year.

Applications for 2026 are being accepted now through May 1. The cost is $200 per banner. Friends and family can pick up an application and guidelines at Jefferson’s Town Hall or at the Jefferson Post office. They are also available on-line on the Town of Jefferson’s official website, under “Departments – Town Historian” or by sending an email to historiantownofjefferson@gmail.com
