HUNTER — The Hunter Fire Co. No. 1 held its annual elections on Tuesday night, with members voting a slate of experienced volunteers into key leadership positions for the 2026 term. The results highlight a deep roster of long-serving members, with several elected officials boasting over five decades of service to the department.
Gary Goodrich was elected President and will also serve as 3rd Assistant Chief, bringing 51 years of experience to both roles. Joining him in the executive ranks are Vice President Gleason Truesdell (37 years), Secretary Elide Bell (2 years), Treasurer John Murphy (19 years), and Membership Secretary Kate Goodrich (42 years).
The department's fire operations will be led by Chief John LaVeglia, a 36-year veteran of the company. The assistant chief positions feature a significant combined tenure, including 2nd Assistant Chief Dave Hartman, who currently holds the longest record of service on the newly elected board with 57 years.
Rounding out the leadership team are Captain Chris Lepard, 1st Lieutenant Gleason Truesdell, 2nd Lieutenant Tyler Kelaher, and Fire Police Captain Ben Sommers, who also marks 51 years of service. James Figiel was elected as the Chief Driver.
