HOWES CAVE — On February 28th, Howe Caverns partnered with Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley for the First Annual “Howe Pawsome” event, raising funds and gathering donations to support local shelter animals.
For one day only, Howe Caverns offered discounted $10 tickets for its traditional cavern tour. The event raised $2,160 that was donated directly to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley. As an added thank-you, guests who brought a donation for the shelter received a free piece of Howe Caverns’ famous fudge.
Shelter staff were on site throughout the event, selling merchandise, assisting with giveaways, and thanking attendees for their generosity. Maggie Jackman Pryor, Executive Director of the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, expressed heartfelt appreciation:
“We appreciate Howe Caverns for creating this event and for inviting us to be a part of this special day. We also want to thank all the visitors, both local and from out of the area, for coming to visit the caverns today and supporting their efforts to raise money for our shelter animals. We are also overwhelmed with the amount of donations that were brought today. These donations will go a long way to help us care for the animals at the shelter.”
“We see this as an investment in our community. The Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley isn’t just a building. It’s a place of hope, connection, and second chances. It’s a mission we truly believe in and we were truly grateful to have played even a small role in supporting it,” said Howe Caverns’ Ann Marie Galasso.
Howe Caverns, the largest show cave in the Northeast and the second most visited natural attraction in New York State, welcomes guests from across the region to experience its breathtaking underground formations.
The Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley is a no-kill facility and the only animal shelter in Schoharie County serving both cats and dogs. Its mission is to provide a safe haven for neglected, abandoned, and abused animals until they can be placed in loving, permanent homes.
The “Howe Pawsome” event offered a unique opportunity for visitors to explore one of New York’s most remarkable natural attractions while making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals in need.
