Above: Wicker Bottles
These two glass bottles are wrapped in wicker to provide a protective layer for both the fragile glass and the contents inside. The wicker helped prevent breakage and shield the contents from exposure to light, which could cause spoilage or degradation. Glass bottles have been
wrapped in wicker for protection since at least the 15th century as sent to us by the Old Stone Fort’s Clay Edmunds.
