BATES HOLLOW — The historic Bates Christian Church will open its doors to the public as part of the 2026 Sacred Sites Open House "Welcoming Our Neighbors" weekend on May 16 and 17.
The event is part of a statewide program sponsored by the New York Landmarks Conservancy, which showcases sacred sites across New York. The Bates Christian Church, located at One Bates Church Road (Bates), will be available for tours from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on both days.
Built in 1859, the church is a significant local landmark. Its historical importance has been recognized through its inclusion in both the New York State Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places.
Visitors are invited to take a step back in history and explore the mid-19th-century architecture and heritage of the site.
A full listing of all religious institutions participating in the statewide open house program can be found at the New York Landmarks Conservancy website.
