COBLESKILL — Senior Matt Gunzinger delivered a dominant performance on the mound and at the plate Friday, leading the Cobleskill-Richmondville Bulldogs to an 11-1 victory over Canajoharie/Fort Plain Baseball in a game shortened to five innings.
Gunzinger earned the win by tossing a complete five-inning gem, allowing just two hits and an unearned run while striking out four. He helped his own cause by finishing 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
The Bulldogs' offense provided plenty of support, recording nine hits and drawing six walks. Senior Elijah Barr spearheaded the attack, going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Senior Simon O'Neil added a triple and two RBIs, while freshman Ty Gunzinger contributed an RBI double.
Sophomore Landon Forsythe made the most of his opportunities, finishing 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored. Junior Landon Huslander also crossed the plate twice, drawing two walks to keep the pressure on the CFP pitching staff.
CFP struggled to find its rhythm against Gunzinger. D. Callan recorded a double for one of the team's two hits, but the visitors were unable to capitalize on four Bulldogs errors, ultimately stranding nine runners on base.
Cobleskill-Richmondville established control early and broke the game open with six runs in the final two innings. The Bulldogs showed depth throughout the lineup, as senior Aiden Carr, sophomore Devin Covey, and junior Alex Hertzler all contributed to the victory, with Hertzler successfully executing a sacrifice bunt.
The win improves Cobleskill-Richmondville's record as they move further into the 2026 spring season.
