Farmers, Backbone of America - Warmer Weather

And April starts off for 2026!  A day here and a day there of sunshine just enough to tease us that warmer weather is coming!  Farmers, whether home gardeners or multi acreage have most likely planned their planting schedule.  Mom and pop home gardeners have their planting trays set up in the basement or back room, starting  heat loving seedlings like tomato plants, peppers, pumpkins, eggplants and squash.

Warm summers in the Catskills always seem to come in slowly with the touch of cold forever following.  Then one day you wake and you hope you did not miss the first and best growing day of the year.  No worries, there is always tomorrow’s sun around the corner, urging the sun to release more warmth.  Unless, yes, unless big money, like Bill Gates decides to invest and provide financial support for a new research project called solar geoengineering.  Solar geoengineering is a climate intervention technology that uses sun blocking or sun dimming to reflect a small percentage of  sunlight back into space to cool the earth and atmosphere.  Mmmm, makes you think doesn’t it?  Does the thought of every action have a reaction still stand?

Come learn about growing  micro greens at home.  Held at Cornell Coop Extension in Cobleskill CCE.  11 A.M.-12 P.M. on  Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

May 1, 2026 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The  Institute for Rural Vitality welcomes its partner growers, producers and small businesses to the fourth annual Empire State Entrepreneur Expo.  The theme of this Expo is Taste, Try and Buy!  Don't  miss this showcase of homegrown innovation and community spirit.

Have a great week!
