SCHOHARIE - Bluebird expert Kevin Berner, professor emeritus of SUNY Cobleskill’s Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Environmental Science, will present “Attracting Bluebirds to Your Yard” on Saturday March 28 at 2:00 PM. Hosted by The Schoharie County Historical Society, the presentation will take place at the Badgley Annex of the Old Stone Fort Museum Complex, 145 Fort Road, Schoharie, NY 12157.
During the presentation, Berner will discuss practical ways to attract bluebirds to backyard habitats and explain how to properly monitor nest boxes. His long-term research has focused on identifying nest box designs that best attract bluebirds while discouraging invasive bird species.
Berner taught at SUNY Cobleskill for 30 years and has spent more than 25 years conducting extensive bluebird research. Berner has also served as Research Chairman for both the North American Bluebird Society and the New York State Bluebird Society.
The event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 per person to support future programming by the Historical Society. The lecture is generously supported by Fenimore Asset Management, Schoharie County Historical Society’s 2026 Lecture Sponsor.
