COBLESKILL — Wheels For The Community put on an egg hunt for our town! Saturday April 4, kids were waiting to collect eggs and meet the Easter Bunny! Some families even arrived an hour early, to be ready. Thanks to Coach Dani we had activities ready for them. There was a ring toss games, a mini kid cornhole set, connect 4, and jumbo size Jenga blocks.
Wheels members arrived at the town park at 9:00 a.m. to clean anything that needed to be picked up. After that, they convened a small meeting to map out the areas to best suit the ages of the children arriving. Next, came out the tables, eggs, prizes, and goody bags. There were so many Easter Bunnies in training, laying out the eggs, and hiding some, for all the kids to find. Members were given designated areas and jobs to keep the community safe. While all this was happening the Easter Bunny arrived to meet kids, and take photos.
Ratrod Harry gave the instructions before the hunt began. The park was split in three different sections based upon the ages of the children. Each child could pick up to five eggs. Then go to open them to see if they indeed did find a special golden ticket inside to get a special prize. The kids were then able to go on the hunt ! Smiling faces and fast feet helped them to find the shiny plastic treasures. There were groups of families all over the grass going through their collection of eggs. After you opened them, you went to the prize station. Each child traded their opened eggs for goody bags. Next golden tickets donated by amazing local business and community members, were handed out to the lucky winners.
Some families arrived after the start time and Brenda Morissette offered to hide eggs special for them. Wheels began with 294 goody bags pre-made for our community. What a child can clean in only minutes, this group spent 3 months planning and prepping for. Wheels did this to bring our community together and for all those smiling faces. They appreciated each thank you and the little smiles they got. We hope if you attended you brought some good memories home with you!
