DELHI — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of a Bainbridge resident for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
On Thursday night, January 22nd, 2026, while patrolling in the Village of Delhi, Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle being operated by a male passenger, from the passenger seat, without a driver in the driver seat. Deputies made contact with the operator who was identified as 35-year-old William Weil of Bainbridge, NY. During the investigation, Deputies discovered that Weil appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and had a child under the age of fifteen in the vehicle.
Upon completion of the investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged Weil with the following offenses in violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law: Aggravated DWI- child in vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st degree, driving with a BAC of .08 of 1% or more having a prior conviction in the last ten years, all class E felonies, Reckless Driving and Driving While Intoxicated, both misdemeanors, and No Seat Belt, a violation. Weil was also charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor of the New York State Penal Law.
Upon completion of arrest processing, Weil was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Delhi Court and was released to appear in court at a later date.
