COBLESKILL — The Cobleskill‑Richmondville Bulldogs Varsity baseball team fell short on Saturday, April 4, in a hard‑fought matchup against Class A Mohonasen, losing 3–1. The game remained tied 1–1 until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Mohonasen broke things open with a double that brought in two runs.
Eli Barr, Matt Gunzinger, and Aiden Carr shared pitching duties for CRCS, and the Bulldogs played a clean defensive game, committing no errors in the field.
Two days later, on April 6, CRCS bounced back in dominant fashion, defeating Schalmont 15–3. Elijah Barr powered the offense with two home runs, while Matthew Gunzinger went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs in hits. Landon Huslander added two hits in four at‑bats.
Gunzinger earned the win on the mound, striking out six. CRCS struck early when Aiden Carr singled to drive in the first run of the game. Schalmont tied things up in the second inning, but the Bulldogs quickly responded in the third when Elijah Barr launched his first home run of the day. CRCS scored five runs on four hits in that inning alone.
Tyler Gunzinger came in as a relief pitcher in the fifth inning to close out the game. Elijah Barr continued his standout performance by hitting his second home run later in the game. In the sixth inning, Landon Forsythe singled to bring in two more runs, followed by a two‑run double from Matthew Gunzinger. Landon Pier added a sacrifice fly to score another run.
The Bulldogs’ next matchup is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, against Fonda‑Fultonville High School.
