COBLESKILL — The 2026 CRCS Boys Varsity Baseball Team opened their spring season on Monday with an impressive 9–2 victory over Voorheesville. The Bulldogs, led by Head Coach Cody Lillich and Assistant Coach John Hertzler, enter the year with high expectations after last season’s league championship and sectional appearance.

This year’s roster brings back a strong core of experienced players. Matthew Gunzinger, Elijah Barr, and Simon O’Neil — all First Team All‑Stars last season — return to anchor the lineup. Barr and Gunzinger are expected to lead the pitching staff, while O’Neil will once again take command of center field.

Additional returning seniors include Aiden Carr, Aiden Joslin, and Logan Hulslander. The junior class features Landon Hulslander, Alex Hertzler, Cayden Cernaukas, and Fred Sperbeck, with Devin Covey representing the sophomore class and Tyler Gunzinger joining the varsity squad as a freshman.

Coach Lillich shared that he is “incredibly proud of last year’s team on and off the field” and believes this year’s group is equally prepared to compete at a high level. With a strong mix of leadership, talent, and depth, the Bulldogs are aiming for another successful season.

The full season schedule is available on the CRCS Boys Varsity Baseball website.

The Bulldogs’ next home game is Monday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m.

CRCS 5K Run Fundraiser

The district also kicked off spring activities with the annual CRCS 5K Run/Walk Fundraiser, held last Saturday, March 28 at 9 a.m. The event brought together students, families, and community members to support athletics and wellness programs across the district. Organizers expressed appreciation for the strong turnout and community spirit that helped make the fundraiser a success.
