DELHI - Delaware County District Attorney Shawn J. Smith announced that Debra Peters, 57, of Fleischmanns, pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a Class E Felony and was sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision on March 10, 2026.   

This case was the result of an investigation conducted by New York State Trooper Anna Aulino and Investigator Mark Head. Their investigation revealed that the defendant stole jewelry from the home of Maureen Shaffer while she was “housesitting” for Shaffer on November 27, 2024. The jewelry consisted of rings which were family heirlooms. 

The defendant was sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision and further ordered to pay $2,000.00 in restitution to the victim. 

District Attorney Shawn Smith commended New York State Police Investigator Mark Head and Trooper Anna Alino for their thorough investigation into this case. Smith stated, “As a result of the thorough investigation conducted by the New York State Police, my office was able to secure a felony conviction without the need for a trial.”
