SHARON SPRINGS — Responding to strong interest from historians and researchers across the region, the Sharon Historical Society is pleased to announce the return of the popular weekly virtual gathering, designed to bring together those engaged in historical work and those simply passionate about history.
Beginning Friday, May 1st at 4:00 PM (ET), and continuing every Friday thereafter, the Society will host a casual, one-hour Zoom meetup open to historians, researchers, museum professionals, and anyone interested in historical topics.
Originally launched as an informal exchange of ideas, the weekly sessions quickly became a valued space for collaboration, discussion, and support. Due to ongoing interest and requests from past participants, the program is now being revived with the same spirit of openness and flexibility.
Each session will provide an opportunity for participants to share current projects, discuss challenges, celebrate successes, and seek input from others in the field. Conversations may also explore emerging topics such as the use of artificial intelligence in historical societies, new research tools, and evolving best practices. While most sessions will remain informal, occasional structured topics will be introduced to guide discussion.
Participation is designed to be flexible and accessible. Attendees are welcome to join as their schedules allow, with no expectation of weekly attendance. The meeting time may be adjusted in the future based on group preferences.
“We found these conversations incredibly valuable the first time around,” said Ron Ketelsen, President of the Sharon Historical Society. “They created a space where historical societies and people interested in history could connect, share ideas, and support one another in meaningful ways. We’re excited to bring that opportunity back. You don’t have to be a historian to participate. If you enjoy history, you will enjoy these discussions.”
