COBLESKILL — Gus LaMonica’s humorous artwork from his book, “Sense or Nonsense,” will be displayed at the Cobleskill Historical Society’s March 2 meeting at the Cooperative Extension building on South Grand Street.

The exhibit, “Scenes from Schoharie County History,” is open to the public, starting at 6 p.m. A program on the artist and his works is being offered by Christopher Baron of the historical society following a brief business meeting.

Visitors will be invited to vote for their favorite LaMonica scene.

A collection of LaMonica’s works, “Sense or Nonsense,” was published in 2007.  He partnered with Schoharie author Les Hendrix to have many of the pieces published as “Sloughter’s Hysterically Illustrated History of Schoharie County.”

LaMonica died in December 2007.

The historical society’s next program is April 6. A program on the nearly 130-year history of the Middleburgh Telephone Company will be presented by Midtel’s Jim Becker.

As a nonprofit, 501c (3) organization, Cobleskill historical society membership donations are tax deductible. New members are always welcome. Dues are $10 for the year for both individuals and/or families.

Checks may be mailed to the Town of Cobleskill Historical Society, PO Box 423, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
