HOBART — Families in the area will soon have a new reason to look forward to the weekend. The Children’s Matinee Movie Series, a monthly lineup of wholesome, family‑friendly films, is set to begin this month—offering an inviting way for children and caregivers to spend meaningful time together.

The films will be shown on the second floor of the Hobart Activity Center, made possible through the generosity of Little Flowers Art Enrichment Center, which is providing the space for these community gatherings.

Each month, organizers will present a thoughtfully selected film chosen for its positive themes, gentle humor, and suitability for young viewers. The goal is to spark imagination, highlight messages of kindness and courage, and provide families with an enjoyable shared experience.

Dates, Times and Featured Films:

Saturday February 14, 1pm: "Up"

Saturday March 14, 1pm: "Wall-E"

Saturday April 11, 1pm "Castle in the Sky"

Saturday May 16, 1pm: "My Neighbor Totoro"

Saturday June 13, 1pm: "Toy Story"

“We wanted to create something simple and joyful that brings people together,” organizers shared. “These films celebrate friendship, creativity, and doing what’s right—messages that resonate with children and adults alike,” offers Matthew Knight, a parent from South Kortright.

The series is hosted by Rediscover Jesus, a community‑forward initiative focused on building connection, fellowship, and shared purpose through events open to all.

With a cozy, kid‑friendly setting, the Children’s Matinee Movie Series is poised to become a monthly staple for families looking for an uplifting afternoon activity—especially during the colder months when indoor events are most appreciated.

Monthly film announcements, times, and updates will be shared on Facebook at @rediscoverjesus.shc.

“As a community, it’s wonderful to have places where families can gather, relax, and simply enjoy time together,” organizers said. “We hope these afternoons inspire big smiles, big conversations, and lasting memories.”

All families are invited to attend. No registration is required unless otherwise noted. No fees are charged. Bring snacks to share and pillows.
