FULTON — The Fulton Town Board handled routine business with an unexpected side of humor during its meeting last Monday evening.

The session began with a standard audit of town bills, led by Supervisor Phil Skowfoe.

The tone shifted significantly during the annual report from Dog Control Officer Joe Durma. In a rare appearance, Durma recounted a recent call involving a group of "runamuck chickens" that had become a serious traffic hazard.

While Durma quipped that wrangling poultry fell outside his official job description, his story sent the well-attended meeting into humor. Supervisor Skowfoe noted that Durma’s visits always bring a welcome sense of levity to the board's proceedings.

The lighthearted consensus among attendees was to simply take the birds to auction.

James Schilling of Middleburgh was present at the meeting to bring up his Energy Symposium to the board. Earlier in the day, the Schillings met with Town Clerk Dawn Skowfoe to tour the Fulton Town Hall and assess its feasibility for upcoming community events.
