Cherry Valley Man Arrested for Alleged DWAI

HARPERSFIELD — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of a Cherry Valley resident for driving while ability impaired by drugs. 

On Thursday night, February 19th, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence on State Highway 23 in the Town of Harpersfield regarding a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies arrived on scene and observed a vehicle matching the previously provided description, parked in the complainant’s driveway. Deputies made contact with the driver, identified as 52-year-old Stephen Maiorano of Cherry Valley. 

Upon completion of the investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged Maiorano with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor offense of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. Maiorano was additionally charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and one count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, both misdemeanor offenses of the New York State Penal Law 

Upon completion of arrest processing, Maiorano was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Harpersfield Court at a later date and was released.
