WALTON — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of a California resident for driving with a suspended registration.

On Sunday afternoon, February 22nd, 2026, Sheriff’s Deputies patrolling on North Street in the Village of Walton observed a vehicle also traveling on North Street, to have expired license plates. Upon conducting a traffic stop, Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as 36-year-old Mario Loor-Macias of Los Angeles, CA. A check of Loor-Macias’s vehicle registration showed that it was in fact suspended and expired, due to open collections in the State of California.

Deputies subsequently arrested Loor-Macias and issued him traffic summonses for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended/Revoked Registration, an unclassified misdemeanor, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Operating with No Insurance and Unlicensed Operator, all violations in the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Loor-Macias was released on traffic summonses and appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Walton Court at a later date to answer the charge.
