Burton to Retire from MCS

MIDDLEBURGH - Long-time Middleburgh elementary school teacher Terry Burton will be retiring at the end of the school year.

School board members at their April 15 meeting accepted Mr. Burton's retirement resignation as of June 30. The board accepted the retirement with regret and best wishes.

In other action, board members:

* Named the following support staff substitutes, Peyton Yung and Ashley Garner.

* Approved the following long-term volunteers for athletics, Felix Pitre and Emily Driscoll.

* Approved the following extracurricular advisors for Little Knights track, Olivia Hamm-Pochkar and Jenna Crull.

* Named Thomas Holliday as co-assistant coach for modified track.

* Approved a request from Rebecca Quinn to use 13 additional sick leave days for the purpose of family sick leave during the school year.

* Appointed Frances Dobesh to a four-yea probationary position as a special education teacher beginning April 6.

* Named Makenzie Terrell to a four-year probationary as a school counselor starting July 1.

* Approved the following updated district policies after a second reading: annual organizational meeting, absentee, military, and early mail ballots, medication and person care items, and students with life threatening health conditions and or anaphylaxis.

* Named the following people are election inspectors for the May 19 vote, Jim Buzon, inspector, Doreen Buzon, and Bonnie Jorgensen.
