Broncos Compete at SUNYAC in Buffalo

BUFFALO — The SUNY Delhi Broncos Swimming and Diving Team competed at their first SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championship at Erie CCC in Buffalo, NY on February 18 to 21.

Delhi men’s team score was 95 and finished in 10th place.  Each member of the men’s team scored.

The Men’s 200 yard Medley Relay Team of Robert Armstrong (North Brunswick HS 25),  Isaiah Eckman (Niskayuna HS 24), Dylan Neuhaus-Kilgore (NY City HS 23) and anchored by Joel Reece (MECPS 25) was 9th with a time of 1:50.47.

The Men’s 200 yard Free Relay Team of Robert Armstrong (North Brunswick HS 25), Jed Sanikidze (Summit HS 25), Joel Reece (MECPS 25), and anchored by Dylan Neuhaus-Kilgore (NY City HS 23) was 8th with a time of 1:38.01, which improved their season best time by 2 and half seconds.

The Men’s 400 yard Medley Relay Team of Joel Reece (MECPS 25), Isaiah Eckman (Niskayuna HS 24), Robert Armstrong (North Brunswick HS 25) and anchored by Jed Sanikidze (Summit HS 25) finished in 8th with a time of 4:13.17, which was their best time of the season dropping a whopping 4.5 seconds.

The Men’s 800 yard Free Relay Team of Isaiah Eckman (Niskayuna HS 24) Sarthak Thapa (New York, NY 24) , Seamus Scott (New Hartford HS 25)  and anchored by Jed Sanikidze (Summit HS 25) which finished in 9th with a time 9:44.99.

The Men’s 400 yard Free Relay Team of Jed Sanikidze (Summit HS 25),  Seamus Scott (New Hartford HS 25),  Sarthak Thapa (New York, NY 24), and anchored by Joel Reece (MECPS 25) which finished in 10th with a time 4:11.73.

Freshman, Robert Armstrong (North Brunswick HS 25) was 17th in the 400 yard Individual Medley (4 lengths of each of the competitive strokes) with a time of 5:01.55. Mr. Armstrong was also 15th in finals for the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.10, which he dropped .02 seconds from his personal best this season that was swam in prelim was 1:01.27, which dropped 1.19 from earlier in the season which he was 16th, so he moved up a spot in finals.  In finals for the 200 yard butterfly, Robert finished in 15 place with a time of 2:19.42, which his prelim time was 2:20.15. 

Sophomore, Isaiah Eckman (Niskayuna HS 24) was 19th in the 100 breaststroke with at time of 1:08.18, which was his new personal best of the season dropping 2.05 seconds from his season best time.  Isaiah was also 31st in the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of :24.95 seconds, which he dropped .47 seconds from his fastest time of the season.

Team Captain, Emalyn Kulp (Gouverneur HS 2024) was 24th in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:30.77.  Emalyn was also 40th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 31.68, which was her personal best of the season dropping .43 seconds.  Emalyn was also 29th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:12.93.

Olivia McPeek  (Chenango Forks HS 24) was 28th in the 100 yard freestyle, with a time of 1:12.93, improving her time by 2.40 seconds.  Olivia’s time in the 100 yard backstroke was 1:26.64, which she finish in 26th place, improving her personal best time by 2.08 seconds.  McPeek’s time in the 50 yard freestyle was :31.58, which she was 39th, which was her personal best dropping .01 seconds.

Freshman Seamus Scott (New Hartford HS 25) was 31th in the 500 yard freestyle, which is 20 lengths of the swimming pool, with a time 6:47.61.  Seamus was 19th in the 1650 yard freestyle (Mile Swim) 66 lengths of the swimming pool with a time of 24:19.09.  Finally, Mr. Scott was 27th in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:34.63.

Joel Reece (MECPS 25) was 27th in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.62, dropping an amazing 2.87 second from his personal best. Joel was also finished 34th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of :25.32.

Jed Sanikidze (Summit HS 25) was 23rd  in 200 yard freestyle with a time 2:05.02, which he dropping a fantastic 2.20 second from his personal best.  Jed was 32nd in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of :24.98, which again he dropped a marvelous 2.27 seconds.  Finally, Jed was 27th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of :55.02, which again was his personal best dropping 1.06 seconds.

Dylan Neuhaus-Kilgore (NYC HS 23) was 35th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of :25.41.

Team Captain Sarthak Thapa (New York, NY 24) was 28nd in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time 1:17.13.  Sarthak was also 21st in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:55.77.  Finally, Sarthak was 41st in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of :31.10, which he improved his best by 0.68 seconds.

Broncos have completed their 2025 to 2026 campaign and we are looking forward to next season.  This is the first SUNYAC Swimming appearance after joining their new college conference.
