BOVINA CENTER — The Bovina Public Library will kick off a new cinematic program next month with a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 psychological masterpiece, "Vertigo."
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the downstairs area of the library, located at 33 Maple Ave.
Often cited by critics as one of the greatest films in history, "Vertigo" stars James Stewart as a former detective struggling with acrophobia and an intensifying obsession while investigating a mysterious woman played by Kim Novak. Set in San Francisco, the thriller is noted for its groundbreaking cinematography and exploration of themes involving identity and illusion.
Library staff will transform the lower level into a makeshift movie theater for the occasion, featuring a large-format projection. Complimentary popcorn will be provided for attendees.
