DELHI – Delaware County District Attorney Shawn J. Smith announced that on April 6, Assistant District Attorney Brett Cowen was sworn in as a Special US Attorney for Delaware County.

This appointment will allow Mr. Cowen, and by extension the  Delaware County District Attorney’s Office, to more closely collaborate with federal  prosecutors and law  enforcement.

The District Attorney’s Office  would like to thank First Assistant U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III and his office for collaborating with our office and for their efforts to make prosecution more effective and  efficient for serious felony offenders.  FAUSA Sarcone said “I am grateful for District Attorney Smith’s recommendation of Mr. Cowen. Since I began in my role as US Attorney it has been my goal to work with all 32 counties and appoint as many special US attorneys as we can manage. This will create a force multiplier to combat the revolving door of crime forced upon these communities by the current majority in the state legislature.”
