MARGARETVILLE — ArtUp presents the work of artists who have hunkered down as the winter season settles into the Catskills: Elizabeth Dimon, Jerry Gallo, Christine Hughes, Patrice Lorenz, Gary Mayer, Michael Milton, John Phillips, Margaret Still and Laura Taylor.
The artists explore a season in transition. Layered textures, shifting moods, emerge as elements collide. The visual language of in-betweenness: snow dissolving into rain, ice forming over slush, clarity interrupted by blur.
Capturing a moment that is neither fully winter nor fully thaw, a fleeting state that refuses to settle. The tension between calm and discomfort, serenity and disruption, as the environment shifts unpredictably.
A metaphor for complexity: a surface where contradictions coexist, where beauty emerges from instability, and where the viewer is invited to linger in the uncertain space between forms.
