SCHOHARIE — On March 10, at approximately 3:18 PM the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 5667 State Route 30 in the Town of Schoharie, with rounds alleged to have struck a home and the real property in the area around the residents who were outside at the time.
Responding units quickly identified the source of the shots and determined that there was no ongoing danger to the public.
An investigation was conducted and resulted in the confiscation of an illegally possessed assault weapon and the arrest of Phillip Loupin, 40, of Schoharie for Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony). Loupin was arraigned before the Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and released to appear in the Town of Schoharie Court at a later date. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank and was assisted by Cobleskill University Police and their K-9 unit in the process of this investigation.
