ANDES — The Andes Fire Department will open its doors to the public this month for an interactive open house featuring live safety demonstrations and recruitment opportunities.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from noon to 4 p.m. Attendees will have access to a variety of educational materials, finger foods, and a firsthand look at the department’s life-saving equipment.

A key focus of the open house is a series of scheduled demonstrations intended to showcase the skills and tools used by first responders.  The afternoon schedule includes:

EMS Mock Call Demonstrations: A step-by-step look at how medical emergencies are handled.

Jaws of Life Demonstration: A display of the powerful hydraulic tools used to extricate victims from vehicle accidents.

Hands-Only CPR Classes: Quick training sessions for community members on life-saving resuscitation techniques.

Equipment Demonstrations: Guided walk-throughs of additional fire and rescue gear. \

Department officials are encouraging residents to attend not only to learn about safety but also to consider joining the team as a volunteer.

The event is part of a broader effort to connect with the local community and bolster the department's ranks. Additional information regarding the open house can be obtained by visiting the Andes Fire Department.
