MIDDLEBURGH - No matter the subject, artificial intelligence, AI, has permeated all subjects at Middleburgh Central School.

Teachers in social studies, art, technology, family and career studies, physical education, agriculture and more spoke to school board members at their February meeting about the use of AI by themselves and students in their subject areas.

Elementary school social studies teachers said that AI use is "source grounded" and in a "secure controlled environment."

High school social studies teacher Jason Dannible said that in the upper grades, AI is used in teacher planning, student engagement, both whole class and individual students, and differentiation.

The benefit, he said, are: saving time and better student engagement.

He also noted that the high school history club is going to Central Europe in the spring. Sites include two concentration camps.

Technology teacher Scott Gray, the department head for technology, FACS, the library, physical education, and agriculture, said AI has helped greatly in many subjects, especially in creating pictures and logos.

He said he still has some reservations about copyrights and patents, "but the more I use it, the more confident I feel."

Art teacher Kimberly Audino, department head of pre-K-12 music, art, foreign language, and guidance counselors, said she used AI to develop her presentation to the board, which showed how AI is being used more and more in art.
