ROXBURY — April was a busy month for members of the Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department. Election of Officers was held at the annual meeting on 4/20 and officers were introduced at the annual dinner on Saturday April 25. In addition, many individual members were recognized for their contributions to the community through actions with the Fire Department and special recognition was given through an awards ceremony.
The RVFD responded to more than 130 fire calls in the last year, and to more than 150 EMS ambulance calls for help in our community.
On Saturday night the Department was very pleased to recognize new members who joined in this past year, including Andrea Cammer, Cristian Ortiz, Diane Lalosh and Eric Petterson, Jr.

Said President Jim Bouton, Sr.: “It is wonderful that we have new young members – our ability to support and train this next generation of firefighters and responders is a testament to the value of our services to the community”, and he noted that the next generation of firefighter officers has already begun to take on new responsibilities and assume leadership roles – see photo. Receiving a pin from the Department to honor for their milestone years of service, were:

Marty Finch - 50 years
In addition, members Ed Sanford and Kellie Sullivan were thanked for their many years of service to the community and the RVFD, as they begin their next phase of life together, moving out of the area. In special recognition, Kellie received a plaque from the Department, honoring her 38 years of dedicated service.
Greg Lalosh received the honor of RVFD Firefighter of the Year. Rich Dykstra was recognized as the RVFD EMS Provider of the Year.
