HARPERSFIELD – District Attorney Shawn Smith announced today that Patricia Kelly, 42, of Hobart, pleaded guilty in the Town of Harpersfield Court on April 20, to one count of Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Drugs, an Unclassified Misdemeanor and was placed on interim probation.  As part of her probation, she will also have to complete the Traffic Diversion Program within 60 days.

On July 26, 2025, Margaretville State Trooper Siobhan Carey was dispatched to the Country Store in the Village of Stamford for a report of a female operator with extensive damage to the rear of her vehicle and believed to be under the influence. Upon arrival at the scene, Trooper Carey made contact with the driver, identified as Patricia Kelly, and observed her to have droopy eyelids and visual signs of impairment.  After Kelly was unable to recall when or where she lost her tire, which was the cause of the damage to her vehicle, Trooper Carey performed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests on Kelly, and it was determined that she was impaired.

District Attorney Smith commended the diligent work of Margaretville State Trooper Siobhan Carey. “Law enforcement has the very serious duty of keeping our roads safe.  I commend Trooper Carey for removing another impaired driver from our roads.”
